Question 1 of 12

An FBI agent arrives at our door one Monday morning after an incident in Atlanta. Over the weekend, a fire at a nightclub resulted in a number of injuries and generated a small story on the front page of the Greenville paper. A Furman graduate was the manager of the nightclub and the officer is asking for access to any student records we have on file for him, strongly suggesting that his actions might make him liable for what transpired. What should we tell the agent?

A. We release the former student’s full record to the agent. He is, after all, a government employee.
B. We inform the agent we’ll need a legally issued court order or subpoena to release data of this type.
C. We refuse to let the agent have any information, not even public information, regarding the student without the expressed written consent of that student.
